| What
Veritas Does:
Assigns:
The Center first confirms with the
requesting Court or
attorney that the disputed fact or facts are appropriate
for
polygraph examination. It then randomly selects professionals
from its roster of certified polygraphists and assigns
the
examinations to them.
Co-ordinates:
The Center co-ordinates the mechanics of the Paired
PDD
Testing process. It calculates the costs to the
challenged
party for its witness's travel, hotel,
ground transportation
and meals, and invoices the challenging party's
attorney for
an amount sufficient to cover those costs plus the
polygraphists' fees. Upon receipt
of the funds, it arranges
appointments for the examinations that are mutually
convenient for the witnesses and their assigned
polygraphists, and transmits the expense money to the
challenged party's attorney. Upon
receipt of charts,
videotape, and polygraphist's report,
it remits the
polygraphist's examination fee.
Informs:
The Center keeps the court and the parties'
attorneys
informed as the process proceeds, and of stalling or
bad
faith by either party. When the examinations have been
completed, it notifies the Court and both parties of
all
results.
Maintains and
Forwards Records:
The Center enters and maintains records of all results,
including the charts and the original beginning-to-end
videotapes of the examinations. It produces and provides
copies of the charts and tapes to the court, and to
the
parties' attorneys upon payment of
a modest fee.
Processes Reviews:
Any party may request that either or both examinations
undergo review. The party requesting a review must pay
for
it. When the review fees are received, the center creates
copies of the examination's charts
and videotapes, and
forwards them to two reviewers selected randomly from
the
roster of certified professionals.
Certifies:
The Center certifies qualified examiners, in accordance
with
ASTM Standard E2324-04 (The
Marin Protocol)
Examiners applying for certification must submit an
end-to-
end videotape of an examination showing their proficient
adherence to a validated methodology, and the interpretable
chart produced by that examination. They must then blind-
score 100 sets of charts generated in real-world examinations
in cases where the truth is now known, fifty of which
are
from examinations where the subject was deceptive and
the
rest from examinations where the subject was non-deceptive.
The test sets are selected from a collection of more
than 400
sets. The applicant is certified if and only if he declares
a
conclusive result for at least 80 per cent of each group
of
fifty, and at least 86 of his conclusive results for
each
group are correct.
Testifies:
Examiners are available to review their certification
and
other qualifications in court, and to support and explain
their findings. Other experts are available to testify
to the
validity of the mathematics underlying Paired
PDD Testing,
and the mechanics employed by the Center.
Educates:
The Center is committed to spreading the word about
paired
PDD testing to judges, attorneys, and the public. We
welcome
every opportunity to participate in professional conferences
nd meetings, and to appear as guests on radio and TV.
Researches:
The Center is vitally interested in new methods and
equipment, and in validating (or refuting) claims made
for
them. In particular, it is involved with efforts to
validate
and quantify Guilty Knowledge Testing (GKT) and to develop
and prove question-sequence protocols that would broaden
its
area of reliable application.
